By Tebogo Senosha

Local soccer teams FC Invaders from Soshanguve and Ga-Rankuwa United locked horns in the SAB Regional League match in Soshanguve Block L at Phillip stadium recently..

There was not a lot of goalmouth action in the first half, as both teams started off cautiously. Most players from both teams looked nervous and uncomfortable at times.

The match went into the half time break with both teams still at 0-0 scoreline.

The start of the second half was pretty cagey as well, Ga-Rankuwa United defended deep in the first few minutes of the second half while the home side displayed dominant attacking approach.

Ga-Rankuwa United were punished in the 70th minutes when FC Invaders striker Bheki Mhlongo opened the scoring with a thunderous volley after a poor clearance by Ga-Rankuwa United defence.

FC Invaders were guilty of sitting on their lead and as a result Ga-Rankuwa United were awarded a penalty in the 80th minutes for their attacking efforts. Ga-Rankuwa United captain Obakeng  Molefe failed to convert from the spot kick.

Ga-Rankuwa United coach Sammy Letlape rued missed chances especially in the first half by his team.

"I am not really happy about our performance today. I feel like we could have won it in the first half," Letlape said.

FC Invaders coach Sammy Mojapelo said he was happy with his team's overall performance especially in the second half, despite having lost 4-0 in their previous game against Pubs United.

Mojapelo said, "It is not easy bouncing back from such a loss, but I am happy with the boys. I think they really showed commitment today".

Ga-Rankuwa United will play Pubs United at home on Saturday, while FC Invaders visits TUT FC on Friday evening.
