It was
a packed Assembly-point as learners of different age , gender and grades
from Refitlhile-Pele Primary school gathered at an event organised by SunBake in Soshanguve recently to present their bread-packaging plastics that they have
collected in their quest to preserve the environment.
The event was attended by parents and
general members of the community in support of their kids and siblings.
The crowd was entertained with music and
several learners as well as their teachers took to the stage to show off their
dancing moves.
The competition has been underway since the
beginning of this year and will end on the 31st March 2017. It has attracted
different schools from Klipgat, Mabopane, Ga-Rankuwa, Moretele, Soshanguve and
Hammanskraal since its start.
The blissful top five learners who managed
to collect more SunBake plastics were rewarded with new school bags, stationery
and shopping vouchers at the event.
Mr. Mishack Mabaso of SunBake thanked the
learners from Refitlhile-Pele Primary school for enthusiastically participating
in the competition, as well as the school committee for working tirelessly in
making the competition a success.
"The response has been positive from
the learners and this competition will benefit them a lot because it will give
them prizes that will be of great importance for them academically such as
school bags and stationery," said Mabaso.
One of the members of the school committee
at Refitlhile-Pele Primary school, Mr. William Mashilo, praised the parents for
allowing their kids to be part of the competition, adding that: "This
competition is a win-win kind of partnership because both SunBake and these
learners benefit from it".
The joyful Grade 5 learner, Ms. Puseletso
Makhubela (13) who walked away with a 250 shopping voucher from SunBake said
that she will give the voucher to her parents so that they can buy her nice
things with it.
The competition will make its way back to
Refitlhile-Pele Primary school one more time next week before going to other
schools.
